Last week, I posted McCalls 8070 in amethyst. I knew when I wrapped it up that it was going to be my “go to” pattern for hoodies.
Today, I sewed Simplicity (MimiG) 9450 a similar style yet with more details in navy blue. I loved the details however Simplicity sizing is always too small for my taste. So I cut a size 10 for my 6/8 frame and it fits perfectly. So perfect that I’m afraid of shrinkage in the wash. (I did not prewash my fabric). I do not like my hoodies to fit snug however if you wear a tee (or commando ) under it, then this is a hoodie for you. I also did not use the shoulder pocket option. I’m practical and I could not find a good reason to not cut 2 of the right sleeve in lieu of the pattens three piece left sleeve that included a pocket.
Overall, I love the detail and recommend top stitching where MimiG recommends, but PLEASE size up when you sew this top.
Using the extra fabric, I made a faux wrap head band.
