Two weeks ago, I made my grandsons TMNT cargo shorts using @BurdaStyle pattern 9641 for their DisneyWorld vacation. This morning my daughter text me a photo of the boys in their shorts having fun.

Handmade Jewelry
Wires & Findings
Most of my earrings I make myself. While on vacation, I lost my favorite pair in the Magic Kingdom. Today, I stumbled upon a shop that sells silver findings that had interesting sterling silver items.
I rushed home to find my wire and pliers to make the green gemstone set, then made a few miscellaneous pair of earrings.
I’m back and ready to sew!
After spending five days in DisneyWorld watching my 2 and 8 year grandsons faces light up in awe, I began to miss my sewing machines. I absolutely loved being with my boys on their first Disney trip however, my other babies were back home and my hands were restless. I missed my sewing room, I missed my fabric stash and yeah I will admit that also missed my husband.
This morning I found some lightweight knit fabric and made a dress suitable for a Disney character.
What do you think? Yay or nay?
Summer Tank – Simplicity 1112
TMNT Cargo Shorts – Burda Easy 9641
Pattern makers are sleeping on adolescent boys and it can be frustrating trying to make them something that suitable. Using TMNT theme fabric, I made my grandsons cargo shorts with side pockets and front pockets for the summer. Yes, they are loud but the 8 year old is going to say “This is cool grandma!”
Considering they were simple to make, now I need to purchase more fabric for the boys!
Summer Tanks – Simplicity 1112
I’m making a fair attempt to go back to wearing vibrant colors. This morning I woke up and made a pair or drawstring pants (not shown) and tank to match (in blue on left). Then I found another piece of fabric that I used to make an additional tank. I love the blue but every time I look at the other, I’m thinking “Wonder Bread”!
The blue is definitely my style. I will have to force myself to wear the other and hear my husbands Wonder Bread jokes. Both were made using Simplicity pattern 1112.
Fabric: Polyester
Modifications: None. On the second (right), I elongated the blouse.
Would I make it again?: As you can see, I immediately made a second one.
Difficulty: The pattern instructions are super easy. The second one took 22 minutes to make.
